Race an important topic we have been wanting to offer for a long time and have been waiting for the right person for this webinar. We are thrilled to be hosting Dr. Shawn Blue, a psychologist and sought after presenter on this topic who is working hard to share her knowledge and experience of the topic to professionals in the Energy Psychology field.
Here are some of the topics we will be discuss:
- What are some important considerations practitioners need to take before a client comes to a session?
- How does a practitioner help a client of color begin to build trust, rapport, and safety early in your work together?
- What are practitioner behaviors that can influence assessment/discussion of race (i.e., silence, ignoring, deflecting, minimizing, white savior syndrome, white fragility)?
- How can we talk about race in a session and avoid the pitfalls of a colorblind approach?
- What are microaggressions and why are they important to understand as a practitioner?
- What is racial trauma?
- What are some ways it might show up?
- How is racial trauma different from PTSD?
- How does historical trauma play a role in racial trauma?
- What are some ways I can assess racial trauma?
- How can practitioners become more informed about race and trauma?
